Looking to make breakfast without heating up the entire house? (Portland, I'm looking at you)
And, its totally delicious.

Check out the post I just made to The Breakfast Blogger about my waffle iron only breakfast sandwich.

Cheddar waffles, bacon and eggs, all in one waffle iron. I like to call it "The MacGyver".

Quick, simple, easy and best of all- I DIDN'T CHANGE THE TEMPERATURE IN THE KITCHEN AT ALL!
Go now- Check it out. TONS more photos there, as well as many other breakfast -centric  photos from the lovely team of breakfast lovers over at The Breakfast Blogger.

PS:
In case I get one, would you mind telling me how you make that? I've never used a waffle iron before.

Re: PS:
In this post there is a link to the full post at the breakfast blogger. Instructions are there, and also at my recipe site (along with all my other recipes and instructions) http://neverbashfulwithbutter.blogspot.com

You should totally get a waffle iron. They're beautiful things.

OH MY GOD, GENIUS!!

As a girl living in Southern California and being unable to move due to the heat, I thank you so much. I may just eat this 3 meals a day..

I'm going to be posting a lot more waffler-centric posts over the summer I think. Its been hot here, and its gonna keep being hot for a while.. I've already got a few ideas up my sleeve. hehe..

Mmmmmm! I just told my family about them, and were going to eat them tommorow! This weather is a killer to us Oregonians.

Thanks so much! it looks like a keeper recipe!

I'm a vegetarian...but that looks so delish!

I love waffles. They are like pancakes' quirky, artistic older sister.

And thanks for introducing me to The Breakfast Blogger. It's my favorite meal of the day! (I think my boyfriend gets tired of me dragging him to diners for pancakes and omelettes every time we go out to eat :)

Thats the best way to explain waffles, ever.

yummmmmm

i had no idea a waffled egg could look so appetizing

and i've never seen an episode of macgyver, but if the show is anything like this breakfast sandwich . . . i'm about to become a fan! ;)

oh thank you so much! I live in Florida, and I kid you not it was 103 degrees yesterday afternoon. This was a great and easy breakfast to have for my sunday brunch. I'm always so hungry on sundays because I can't eat breakfast before church (no eating before communion) so I am just ravenous by the time I get home. Mine turned out great, I made it with scarmbled eggs, swiss cheese waffles, and some melted american cheese with bacon:

Thats awesome! I'm glad you gave it a try, your sandwich looks delicious!

Last week we had one day that got to 105 degrees. I thought I was going to die, and basically lived in the swimming pool of my gym, and when I wasn't at the gym, I was in my bathtub, which I filled with the coldest water I could possibly get from the tap. I couldn't imagine living where the temperatures were regularly above 70 Degrees, and that's pushing it for me.

Thank goodness for waffle iron breakfasts!

I live in Florida too... I feel your pain. In the summer months I live on homemade smoothies for breakfast. I thank heavens for blenders as well as waffle irons. :D

Has nothing to do with this entry, but I just wanted to let you know that my boyfriend and I just went nuts at an Asian food market and bought lychees and a durian based solely on your stories in this journal. Haha. Thank you for all of your wonderful food-related story sharing :D
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on July 17th, 2007 07:50 am (UTC)
Thats so cool! Did you like either of those fruits? Did you find any other cool treats at the Asian food market? I love ours. I can spend hours just looking at everything. At Christmas time I gave myself 150 dollars to spend "for Christmas" at the Asian market just buying the awesomely packaged candies and snacks and stuff. It was a very Asian Christmas here at the Muffin household. My in laws were like "did you go to Japan or something?" and I was like "No.. I went to Uwajimaya" (the name of our market) haha. It was hilarious.

I loved the lychees, and ended up eating most of them in one sitting. The durian however.. ha! We really just bought it for the experience similar to the one you described, sounded fun! The smell was indeed atrocious and the texture made it unbearable for me - but we got a few laughs out of it so, good purchase :D

We ended up buying golden kiwis and some strange kind of mango (champagne mango?) and used them in a fruit salad. They were both delicious.

Wow. I used to live in Portland, and can't imagine most of my friends dealing with the heat. I imagine they may have fled for Seaside.

Also, the waffle sandwich is wonderful. I may have to acquire a waffle maker!

My boyfriend and I totally got a waffle maker at Goodwill when we moved into this apartment back in April. We usually use it to make belgian-style french toast, but we're definitely going to try this recipe out next weekend. I can't wait!
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on July 17th, 2007 07:51 am (UTC)
Awesome. The thought of waffled french toast is so cool. I Should give that a try just for something different. I love french toast. mmm..

I need to get a waffle maker. I feel seriously deprived to have only eaten 'store bought, chuck in the toaster waffles'.

I was checking out the Breakfast Blogger page too, some awesome stuff! keep up the good work guys :)
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on July 17th, 2007 07:53 am (UTC)
Waffle makers are one of the most important kitchen gadgets out there, at least in my opinion. Even a cheapo one is better than nothing! hehe.. I do have a love for store bought toaster waffles though. There is just something so very "I lived off these and ramen when I was in college" about them. hehe..

It was... it was.. Aaron ate like four of them. I only had one, but it was pretty filling all by itself!

Holy.
Balls.

I bow to your amazing awesome awesomeness.
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on July 17th, 2007 07:56 am (UTC)
I'll admit, it was pretty awesome.

The most awesome part being the waffled egg, of course. I figured out the waffled egg thing when I was waffling stuff a few months ago, and I was too lazy to wash one of our skillets out because it was in the dishwasher which hadn't been ran yet.

hehe.. Aaron didn't think it work, but it did. I was even amazed by that, though I don't know why, it does kind of make sense that no matter what the shape, pressing any sort of food between two cooking plates will cause it to cook. hehe..

I really love Kelloggs Waffles, those put in the toast kind. How funny you made waffles coz I had belgium waffles yesterday. It's been months since I had some. Love it! I love the buttermilk kind too. Hmm maybe I should get one too. I love waffles but not pan cakes haha.
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on July 17th, 2007 07:57 am (UTC)
I love waffles. I love pancakes too, but not big fluffy ones. I prefer mine thin and covered in berry jam and butter. mmm...

But as for waffles, I don't think you can go wrong with any sort of waffle. They're just plain delicious.
gl.[info]gretchin on August 4th, 2007 08:45 pm (UTC)
is there a trick to the egg waffling? we tried it today for my birthday and it didn't work out at all! it got stuck in there and had to be pried out in bits. :)
Adventures in culinary creativity.[info]a_muffin_story on August 4th, 2007 09:54 pm (UTC)
Hmm.. no special tricks here. Is your waffle iron non stick? if not, then you might have to grease it pretty well.

Otherwise, I've tried it as well as a few other people, and none of us have had any problem, nor did any of us use any special tricks. Sorry about your bad waffle luck!
gl.[info]gretchin on August 6th, 2007 05:40 am (UTC)
it's nonstick, but it's a belgian waffle maker, the kind that flips over. scrambled or fried eggs are just as tasty, but i was charmed by the idea of waffling. oh, well.
